About the Work: Brainflowers
Kerri Boccard Tiburzi's brightly colored pieces are meant to draw in onlookers to further observe the whimsical and hidden deeper meanings within her work. Kerri refers to her work as "Brainflowers" as the thoughts bloom into her mind and grow out into the physical world.
BrainFlowers A bouquet of scattered flowers descends from the top of the sphere, landing upon faces beneath them. The faces are blended together abstractly- multiple figures will share facial features, so the figures can appear as individuals and multiple people all at once. The blending of the faces represents how we see ourselves in one another. The various flowers represent our different thoughts-when we put our minds together it creates wild and positive beauty.
Crowned Crowd A linear abstract cityscape emerges from the bottom of the sphere meeting different sized linear people above the scape. The figures blend into one another similarly as in piece one. This blending represents our commonality of being human. The figures' heads all have scratchily drawn crowns above them, representing our Borough. The positioning of the figures over the city is an ode to the act of loving and watching over our shared home.
Heart Strings Anatomical, broken, mending and classic heart shapes will be scattered around the sphere at random distances from one another. All hearts are linked by a “thread” at least once. These hearts represent neighbors in their current emotional states, and the thread is our connection to one another. The line links the hearts and individuals providing a sense of solidarity no matter how far hearts may be distanced from one another. Heart Strings represents togetherness.
Gestural Jungle Linear arms and hands in multiple actions; reaching for one another, high fives, pinky promises, fist bumps, stretch around the sphere at random angles. Sporadic, familiar movements without faces represent random acts of kindness in our community.
