Founded in 2005, the Long Island City Business Improvement District (LIC BID) provides supplemental sanitation, visitor services, horticulture, streetscape improvements, and community development and marketing initiatives that benefit the community at large. Managed by Long Island City Partnership, it encompassed the commercial corridors along Queens Plaza and Jackson Avenue to Court Square. It has since been expanded to include the commercial corridors continuing along Jackson Avenue, Vernon Boulevard, and 44th Drive. The original boundaries of the LIC BID and the expansion area make up two sub-districts that represent the diversity of commercial activity in the neighborhood.
